Maya Adams (She/Her)

Maya Adams is a multidisciplinary artist with a passion for exploring the effects of climate change on human experiences, specifically in the topics of climate justice, ecological grief, and futures thinking. She blends her Ugandan-American heritage with these interests to create pieces that delve into the complexities of race and the environment, spirituality, climate anxiety, and pathways to equitable futures.
Her work spans a range of mediums, including painting, film, photography, illustration, sculpture, installation, and poetry, reflecting her versatility and creative prowess. Her pieces have been featured in exhibitions, including the Oxford Natural History Museum, Le 6b Paris, NYU Abu Dhabi Gallery Space, The Oxford Society for Art and Ecology’s Flute and Bow, and the Tate Modern.
Maya holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Change and Management from the University of Oxford. And Bachelor’s degree in Visual Communications with a minor in Environmental Studies, from NYU Abu Dhabi. Currently, she is pursuing a course in Futures Studies and Speculative Design at Parsons School of Design to better understand how to combine creative communication, climate science, and future thinking together.
